Shirley Burt Anderson

THE BATTLE IS OVER AND I AM NOW SAFE IN HIS ARMS.

McCormick, SC: Shirley Burt Anderson, 72, of 12 Tyler Trail, the wife of Julian Anderson, transition on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at Edgefield Post-Acute after declining health.

She was born in Edgefield, SC, December 28, 1953, daughter of the late Harrison and Mabel Gilchrist Burt. Early in life she joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She was a 1972 graduate of Strom Thurmond High School. During her working life she worked in the Textile Industry.  She married to Julian Anderson and joined the Liberty Spring Baptist Church where she was a faithful member. Shirley was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church Choir and president of Women of Purpose.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Harrison Burt, Jr. and sister, Fannie Lanham.

She leaves to cherish and honor her memory, her husband, Julian Anderson of the home; two step-daughters, Tammie Jones and Kristie Anderson (Lamonte) both of North Augusta, SC; devoted granddaughter,  KenKaylia (J'Shaun) Barton of Aiken, SC; sister, Mary Julia Simpkins, Carol City, FLA; grandchildren, Martika Hood Dewayne), Christopher Anderson (Virginia), Jamar Latimer and James Wright; great grands, Marlaysha Anderson, and Makinley Anderson; four sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
